A Little About Me, and the Heart Behind My Practice
Hi, I’m Emily! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about walking alongside individuals and couples on their journeys toward healing, growth, and meaningful change. I believe counseling is a space where hope can be restored, strengths can be rediscovered, and lasting transformation can take root. It is my privilege to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Auburn University. My counseling approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your unique experiences, needs, and goals. I believe meaningful progress begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and genuine connection. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, I work alongside you to better understand your experiences, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools that foster lasting change.
Drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges. I incorporate evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation, strengthen coping skills, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build greater self-awareness. My goal is not simply to help you manage symptoms, but to equip you with skills and insight you can carry into your everyday life.
As a Christian, I also value the opportunity to integrate faith into the counseling process for clients who desire it, while honoring each individual’s unique beliefs and experiences. I believe faith can be a meaningful source of hope, strength, and healing, and I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable exploring the spiritual aspects of your journey without pressure or judgment.
I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, identity exploration, life transitions, and personal growth. I am also a certified SYMBIS facilitator, offering premarital counseling to help couples build a strong foundation for marriage through intentional communication, deeper understanding, and shared goals. Above all, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside you as you navigate difficult seasons, discover your strengths, and move toward a life that feels more connected, intentional, and fulfilling.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy cooking, traveling, spending time with my husband and our goldendoodles, Bro and Bud, and hosting game nights with friends and family. I also own and operate my own photography business, where I enjoy capturing meaningful moments and stories.
